In October 1899, the company is first established in Pennsylvania as the Reading Glove and Mitten Manufacturing Company by John Barbey and a group of investors.

1910s

The company is renamed Schuylkill Silk Manufacturing when it expands into silk lingerie.

Through a contest, “Vanity Fair” is selected as a brand name for the lingerie line.

The company changes its name to Vanity Fair Silk Mills, Inc.

1940s

The company drops the word “silk” due to an embargo on this material during World War II.

Vanity Fair Mills goes public.

The 2017 acquisition combines Williamson-Dickie’s brands, including Dickies®, Workrite®, Kodiak®, Terra®, and Walls® with VF’s current workwear offerings to create a global leader in workwear.

The 2018 acquisition of Icebreaker® is an ideal complement to VF's Smartwool® brand, which also features Merino wool in its clothing and accessories. Together, the Smartwool® and Icebreaker® brands will position VF as a global leader in the Merino wool and natural fiber categories.

VF divests of the Nautica® brand.

The Altra® brand provides VF with a unique and differentiated technical footwear brand and a capability that when applied across VF’s outdoor footwear, direct-to-consumer and international platforms, will serve as a catalyst for growth within the outdoor and performance segment.
