VF Associates Give Back to Mother Nature in Celebration of Earth Day

May 8, 2018

To celebrate Earth Day, VF associates around the world volunteered 2,000-plus hours to give back to their local communities. Below is a rundown of how associates gave back.

VF World Headquarters
Associates at VF’s World Headquarters in Greensboro, North Carolina, volunteered at 25 area organizations, working on a variety of improvement projects including planting flowers, clearing pathways and assisting animals at a local shelter.

Smartwool®
Associates from Smartwool’s headquarters in Steamboat Springs, Colorado, teamed up with their local parks and recreation department to clean up a hiking trail and a nearby road. The brand also took its Earth Day efforts online by sharing simple changes people can make to be more green on its blog.

Timberland®
  • APAC
Timberland APAC partnered with its local YMCA to beautify a youth camp. Associates helped with tree planting and maintenance, painting and repair work, mulching and soiling, and cleaning the waterfront area to get the site ready for campers this summer.
  • U.S.
U.S.-based Timberland associates spent Earth Day cleaning up downtown Portland, Oregon. And, on May 10, the Timberland world headquarters in Stratham, New Hampshire, will close its office for the day so associates can take part in a series of volunteering events at six sites throughout the area. The event is part of Timberland’s Path to Service program, which provides full-time associates with up to 40 hours of paid time off each year to serve in ways that speak to their passions. Now in its 26th year, the program was created so Timberland associates could give back to the communities where they live, work and explore.
  • Worldwide
Across the globe, more than 1,000 Timberland associates – from Barcelona to Hong Kong – will serve across three continents through the end of May, all with the common goal of protecting and enhancing the outdoors.
Workwear
Associates with VF Solutions, a division of VF’s Workwear organization in Nashville, Tennessee, partnered with local park rangers to help freshen up a local playground. Together, the group painted parking lot striping, disability markers, water hookups, fencing, kerosene lantern poles, gates and tables, and added traction strips on wood steps that pose a hazard in wet weather.
